Drug bust in Niagara Falls leads to charges for 18-year-old man

Niagara police have charged an 18-year-old man in connection with a drug investigation in Niagara Falls.

Officers say they began an investigation last month, mainly in the area of Main and Ferry streets.

Investigators say a suspect was identified and a warrant to search a home in the area of Kalar and Coventry roads was granted.  

On Wednesday, that search warrant was executed and the following items were seized:

  • 99.6 grams of suspected fentanyl (estimated value $9,960)
  • About 500 suspected dilaudid pills (estimated value $5,000)
  • 1 gram of suspected cocaine (estimated value $100)
  • $8,025 Canadian currency

Rayono “JJ” Currie, 18, of Niagara Falls, was arrested and charged with several offences including possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl, hydromorphone and cocaine.

Currie remains in custody and was scheduled to attend a bail hearing on Wednesday at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines.
