Lake Erie water levels are very high it’s made for a soggy shoreline and with the road being the only way into the Long Point provincial campground, the park superintendent was forced to close the park.

You can see by the angle of the docks, Lake Erie is about two feet higher than normal the highest it’s been since 1985. Selkirk provincial park is also closed because of flooding, and combined with Longpoint, there are roughly 250 campsites closed as well.

While flooding has caused the closures of Long Point and Selkirk provincial parks this long weekend, there are still a few campsites available here at Turkey point.

Heavy rain has caused issues along the shores of lake Ontario as well the park around the carousel in Port Dalhousie is underwater, delaying the opening of the popular attraction.

Staff at Long Point provincial park had hoped to reopen the park and campground by Tuesday, but they pushed that back even further to Friday of next week, because of more rain in the forecast.
