Ontario reports 3,265 COVID-19 and 29 deaths

Ontario reported 3,265 cases of COVID-19 and 29  deaths on Tuesday, as the province announced it is opening up vaccinations to more people.

The reported positivity rate is 10.2 per cent, while 34,000 tests were completed in the last day.

Here are the COVID-19 numbers for our region

Hamilton

  • 16,582 total cases — up 119 from Monday
  • 14,398 resolved cases
  • 1,558 active cases
  • 157 in hospital
  • 355 deaths  — up two from Monday

Halton

  • 14,644 total cases — up 124 from Monday
  • 13,573 resolved cases
  • 861 active cases
  • 77 in hospital
  • 210 deaths  — up one from Monday

Niagara

  • 13,406 total cases — up 101 from Monday
  • 10,276 resolved cases
  • 2,740 active cases
  • 84 in hospital
  • 390 deaths  — up three from Monday

Brant

  • 2,629 total cases — up 29 from Monday
  • 2,306 resolved cases
  • 306 active cases
  • 17 deaths
  • 16 in hospital

Haldimand-Norfolk

  • 2,212 total cases — up 20 from Monday
  • 1,875 resolved cases
  • 291 active cases
  • 41 deaths

Six Nations (last updated on Monday)

  • 486 total cases
  • 445 resolved cases
  • 29 active cases
  • 1 in hospital
  • 10 deaths

There are 2,336 people in hospital with COVID-19 across the province. There are 875 patients in intensive care because of the virus, down slightly from the 877 reported on Monday, with 589 of them on ventilators.

Another 3,908 cases have been marked as resolved.

The province says 94,819 vaccine doses were administered on Monday, bringing the total number of doses given to over 4.7 million.

There are 362,563 people in Ontario who have received both required shots and are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
