Halton police have charged two people Tuesday morning after a routine traffic stop in Oakville led to arrests related to auto-thefts.

Police say at around 10:30 a.m. officers had conducted a traffic stop on an Audi sedan in the area of Neyagawa Boulevard and Gardenbrook Avenue in Oakville.

During the stop, an officer says they noticed suspicious items such as balaclavas, gloves, and tools in the vehicle.

As a result, the officers followed the vehicle, which drove into a hotel in Mississauga. There, the two men who were in the vehicle picked up a Toyota Tundra that was previously reported stolen out of Toronto.

One of the men drove the Tundra to a new location, followed by the Audi.

Halton police arrested both men at the new location.

Officers have charged 21-year-old Luca Lacroix from Saint-Hubert, Quebec with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and possession of break and enter instruments.

Lacroix is also reportedly wanted by police in Quebec for breaching conditions related to his release.

They have also charged 22-year-old Teddy Sanon from Montreal, Quebec for similar offenses.

Both of the accused were held in custody by Halton police pending a bail hearing.
