Next-generation steel being created – in Steeltown

Light-weight, more fuel efficient cars are part of an ideal world for drivers and manufacturers — and now there’s a new research centre in Hamilton that will help develop lighter materials for the next generation of vehicles.

It’s called Canmet and it opened its doors Wednesday in McMaster’s Innovation Park. Many people in the city have been waiting for this moment for years — and it’s finally here. Scot Urquhart joins us with more details.
