The 32-year-old mother of an 11-year-old boy who was rushed to hospital with life-threatening head injuries has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, and failure to provide the necessities of life.
Toronto Police were called to an apartment on Eva Road in the city’s west end early Friday morning. They heard a woman screaming, and had to break the lobby door to get into the building. The boy was found with “obvious” head injuries.
In a media conference, Victor Kwong of the Toronto Police Service said “Initial officers did discover a boy, 11 years old, with trauma to his head and area. He was taken to hospital with serious and life threatening injuries. I now understand that it is critical injuries and life-threatening.”
The mother’s name won’t be released, in order to protect the boy’s identity. The rest of the family members at the home have been placed in the care of the Children’s Aid Society, other family members, or released on their own.
