Mike Duffy takes medical leave

Former Conservative Senator Mike Duffy says he is taking a medical leave from the senate.

Duffy has been at the centre of an ongoing housing expenses scandal and other allegations of misuse of power.

In a statement, Duffy says he is under doctor’s orders to remain away from work after suffering a recent bout of unstable angina that resulted in a two-day hospital stay.

Back in 2006, he underwent open heart surgery for three blockages.

Duffy is one of four senators under investigation by the RCMP amid allegations that he fraudulently claimed living expenses that he wasn’t entitled to.
