Health Canada is to introduce a new combo mRNA and flu vaccine by Moderna to the country.

The federal department has given the thumbs-up to two types of shots from the U.S.-based pharmaceutical and biotechnology company.

This will include a combination mRNA vaccine for influenza and COVID-19 and an mRNA vaccine specifically for the flu.

Adults aged 50 and older have been approved.

However, the shots will not be available in time for the 2026-27 cold and flu season.
