Canadian UN worker freed in Syria

A Canadian United Nations worker is free after being kidnapped in Syria eight months ago.

Syrian state television aired video today of Carl Campeau meeting with Syria’s deputy foreign minister in Damascus.

Campeau says he escaped when they forgot to lock the door to his room.

He was abducted by rebels outside Damascus on February 27th.

Campeau was in Syria as a legal advisor for the UN disengagement observer force, charged with monitoring the 1974 ceasefire between Israel and Syria.
