McMaster medical pioneer dies

The doctor who put McMaster University on the map, has died.

Dr David Sackett set up the world’s first department of clinical epidemiology at the McMaster Medical School, where he developed programs in research methods and evidence-based studies. He was recognized for his clinical trials proving taking Aspirin helps prevent heart attacks and strokes.

The medical pioneer died from cancer yesterday. Dr Sackett was 80. Pamela VanMeer has more on the man, and his amazing accomplishments.
