Man in critical condition after dump truck collision in Welland

Ontario Provincial Police say two people are injured after a crash at the intersection of Highway 58A and Canal Bank Street in Welland.

Officers say the crash happened at around 1:20 p.m. Thursday between a dump truck and a sedan.

Police say the 71-year-old man and lone occupant of the sedan has been brought to hospital with critical, life-threatening injuries.

The dump truck driver suffered minor injuries, according to authorities.

Investigators say the road will likely remain closed until 7:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday evening.
