Halton region discovers first mosquitoes carrying West Nile virus this year

The Halton region says they have found their first mosquitoes with West Nile virus this year.

The batch was tested last week.

No human cases of the virus have been found in Halton this summer.

The region says the best way to protect yourself from West Nile virus is to cover up when outside between dusk and dawn.

It is recommended that residents also make sure there is no standing water like bird baths or catch basins on their properties.
