A parachutist suffered minor injuries and required a rescue after crashing into a tree in Port Colborne.

On Thursday, emergency services responded to the incident at Sherkston Shores at 10:50 a.m.

“He was part of a large group of jumpers that were landing in Lake Erie who get picked up by boats. A gust of wind pulled him off course towards shore and the tree,” Fire Chief Stan Double tells CHCH News.

Fire crews utilized an aerial ladder truck and high angle rope rescue techniques to save the individual, who was then transferred to EMS.

Crews say it took about 45 minutes from notification to rescue.
