Man accused in Herkimer St. murder released on probation that day

The man accused of killing his mother in a Herkimer St. apartment Monday was released from jail on probation hours before the incident occurred.
Court documents confirm that 34-year-old Daryl Buckle was released and granted probation on Monday.
Buckle was being held in custody for two counts of assaulting a police officer.
The first incident was reported on May 4, with Buckle being released on bail the following day.
After assaulting a second officer on June 7, Buckle was taken back into custody where he remained until his release Monday.
Buckle returned to his residence at 42 Herkimer St. where he had been ordered to remain to serve out his 18-month probation period, along with participation in any assessment, counselling or rehabilitative programs as set out by his probation officer and doctor.

Shortly after his release, Hamilton police would be called to the Herkimer St. apartment for reports of a disturbance.
Officers arrived around 5 p.m. to find a female victim without vital signs, who was pronounced dead in hospital.
Buckle was arrested on scene and has since been charged with first-degree murder.
Hamilton police have since confirmed the victim to be the suspect’s 62-year-old mother, Jacquelyne (Jackie) Buckle, a long-time employee of the City of Hamilton who retired after 35 years.
The family of Jacquelyne is remembering her as a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, coworker and friend “who will be greatly missed by everyone who loved her.”
