Much of southern Ontario is cleaning up after a powerful storm ripped through the Hamilton area, with some even reporting tornado sightings.
There were some really angry looking clouds that rolled in Tuesday night at around 7 p.m.
Environment Canada reported at least two possible tornadoes — one in Burgessville and the other in Springford, in between London and Brantford.
Emergency alerts rang out on devices during the evening, warning of destructive winds of up to 130 km/h, hail the size of a quarter and intense rain.
Residents were urged to take cover immediately and described a potentially life-threatening situation.
Hamilton police say they received several calls last night about downed lines and traffic concerns, but there were no reported injuries.
The Northern Tornadoes Project team from Western University said they were investigating reports of tornadoes and wind damage.
Their project director David Sills said they have two survey crews in action Wednesday, one in the London area and the other in Huntsville area.
Alectra’s outage map is reporting a couple outages in the Hamilton area, one in particular in Waterdown that is affecting over 1,000 customers.
Restoration time is estimated to complete between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m.
