Environment Canada has issued a widespread yellow-level heat warning for southern Ontario including Hamilton, Halton, Niagara and the GTA.

This multi-day heat event begins on Monday, with the hottest conditions expected on Tuesday to be around 37 C.

The heat warning is anticipated to end either Wednesday or Thursday evening, with maximum temperatures between 30 and 37 C, minimums between 20 and 24 C and humidex values around 38 to 45 C.

As the hot, humid weather could also lead to poor air quality with the index approaching the high-risk category in some areas, Environment Canada urges people to watch for signs of heat exhaustion.

These signs include headache, nausea, dizziness, dark urine and extreme fatigue. If someone is showing signs of heat stroke such as red and hot skin, dizziness, nausea, confusion and change in consciousness, it’s best to call 911.
