Hamilton Public Health says it is investigating a confirmed measles case in a child linked to travel, and possible exposure locations.

The health agency is notifying and following up with those who may have been exposed to the virus.

Potential exposure sites and time-frames include:

Hamilton Medical Centre and Walk-in Clinic at 52 Cannon St. West, Unit 103, on Mar. 5, from 9:15 a.m. to noon.

Costco Stoney Creek Warehouse at 1330 South Service Road, on Mar. 5, from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Stoney Creek Medical Walk-in Clinic at 140 Centennial Parkway North in Hamilton, on Mar. 6, from 6:40 p.m. to 9 p.m.

McMaster Children’s Hospital Emergency Department at 1200 Main St. West, on Mar. 6, from 7:53 p.m. to 8:53 p.m.

Public health strongly recommends keeping vaccinations and records up-to-date.

Residents are asked to watch for measles symptoms for 21 days after exposure, even if you’re vaccinated.

Infants under one year of age, people who are pregnant, and those with weakened immune systems are at an increased risk of complications.

Hamilton Public Health says symptoms typically appear 7 to 21 days after infection and may include a high fever, red blotchy rash, cough, runny nose, and red, watery eyes.

As of Feb. 26, Ontario has reported 127 confirmed and 50 probably cases of the virus.
