Niagara police say human remains found on March 5 have been identified to be a Port Colborne man missing since Dec. 2024.

Detectives have identified the body of 31-year-old Derek Gibbs.

Police launched the investigation on March 5 after human remains were located near Highway 140, in the City of Welland.

The investigation remains on-going. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the police.
