Hamilton police search for vehicle in shooting investigation

Hamilton police arrested a suspect and search for a vehicle as they continue to investigate a late night shooting at a home in Ancaster.

This is the second firearm-related incident in the area in the last four days.

On Sunday at around 3:16 a.m., police responded to the area of Elodia Court after a witness reported a suspicious vehicle stopped in the neighbourhood.

Officers say they arrived shortly after and located a grey Honda parked on Elodia Court with its lights off. After a brief pursuit, the suspect was arrested and officers recovered a loaded Glock handgun.

On Tuesday at around 11:57 p.m., police received multiple 911 calls reporting shots fired at a residence on Elodia Court.

Investigators say upon arriving, they located shell casings outside the residence and multiple bullet holes in the garage door.

Officers say a black Honda CR-V with licence plate DANH 172 was seen fleeing the area. The vehicle was reported stolen from the Peel region in May.

Police will have a visible presence in the area as the investigation continues.
