Hamilton police have arrested a 44-year-old man in connection with a spree of commercial break-ins across the city.

Police describe the suspect as “bold”, saying he would use a rock to smash windows in order to gain access to restaurants and businesses.

An investigation linked the same lone suspect to at least 16 break-ins across Hamilton since mid-December, mainly in the central area with a few on the mountain.

On Wednesday, officers executed a search warrant at an address in Ancaster and arrested 44-year-old Joey Robert Hudson.

Hudson faces 16 counts each of break and enter, disguise with intent, disobey court order, and failure to comply with probation.

Police say investigations are ongoing, however they are not looking for any other suspects.

Detectives are looking to speak with other businesses that suspect they were the victim of the same crime, as well as witnesses that may have seen or heard something.

Anyone with information is asked to contact investigating members of the Break and Enter, Auto Theft and Robbery (B.E.A.R.) Unit, Det. Cst. Patrick Root at 905-540-6327 or Det. Sgt. Shane Groombridge at 905-546-2991.
