The Hamilton/Burlington SPCA (HBSPCA) has received a generous donation from community members to continue providing food for pets in need after appealing to the public in August.
The HBSPCA says Driving Force Burlington and Dr. Liz O’Brien, owner of the Cat Clinic in Hamilton, have donated three new vehicles to their fleet which ensures more pets and families across Hamilton and Burlington receive the food and care they need.
These new vehicles will allow the HBSPCA to reduce delivery wait times from weeks to days, reach more vulnerable pet owners, and expand service to families who face significant barriers such as lack of transportation or mobility challenges.

With custom retrofitting requirements, the HBSPCA expects all three vans to be fully equipped and operational within the next 30 days.
A spokesperson with the HBSPCA says once their urgent call for help went public, Dr. Liz O’Brien was one of the very first to respond by securing a van through her family fund.
“Their generosity is nothing short of remarkable. These vans will keep pets fed, families together, and hope alive for so many in our community,” said John Gerrard, CEO of the HBSPCA.
Last year alone, the HBSPCA Pet Pantry delivered over 931,000 meals directly to local homes and provided nearly two million meals through community partners.
