Graphic evidence presented at Hamilton murder trial

More graphic evidence was presented today in a Hamilton courtroom where 2 Grimsby brothers are facing first degree murder charges. The charges stem from the brazen daylight shooting of former Hell’s Angel Lou Malone 2 years ago.
This was an unusual murder scene in that it encompassed several blocks of Hamilton’s north east end, from Robins to Cannon to Kenilworth to Brittania. And each bit of evidence collected throughout that huge scene is being presented to the jury. Today we heard what happened when evidence was sent to the Centre of Forensic Sciences.
“Hello? Police fire or ambulance?”
911 operators heard from several witnesses in the Britannia and Kenilworth area after 1a.m. on November 9, 2013.
“There’s a guy in a truck shooting at people on the road. What are they shooting?”
“A gun!”
“Is anyone hurt there? Did you say he shot somebody?”
“They shot somebody on the street.”
49 year old Lou Malone was found dead that night, his head hit with the blast from a point-blank shotgun.
Surveillance footage shows his last moments, running with a dog around the neighbourhood, seconds ahead of a pickup truck. Police say this happened less than an hour after 49 year old Mike Josipovic was beaten up by Malone outside Main Billiard.
Josipovic and his 52 year old brother John Josipovic pleaded not guilty to first degree murder.
Phone records show Mike called John from a store not far from the billiards lounge. The brothers live side by side in Grimsby, and the phone records show John left Grimsby and came to the same Hamilton neighbourhood his brother, Mike, was in.
On Wednesday the jury heard experts from the centre of forensic sciences testify that 4 shotgun casings found on scene came from the same gun, and there were parts found from 2 other bullets.
Lou Malone’s blood was found on a shotgun stock handle and on the rings taken from his body. Mike Josipovics blood was also on Malone’s rings.
Scientists also examined the truck found in John Josipovic’s garage. They found Lou Malone’s blood splattered on the front, and on the front passenger seat, where an arm would rest.
The jury gets a break tomorrow and court will resume Friday morning. It looks like the prosecution is wrapping up. By next week we should hear from the defense lawyers.
