Good Samaritan victim of carjacking after stopping to help crash victims

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating after a Good Samaritan’s vehicle was stolen after they stopped to offer assistance at the scene of a crash.
Officers were called to a two-vehicle collision on Cockshutt Rd. in the County of Brant around 3:40 p.m. on Sunday.
Police say prior to their arrival, a Good Samaritan had stopped at the scene to help the victims of the crash.
They say a passenger in the Good Samaritan’s vehicle was “forcibly removed” by one of the people who had been involved in the collision.
The person then stole the vehicle and fled the scene.
OPP says the vehicle was found abandoned a short time later.
The passenger was taken to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. Two other people who were involved in the collision were also transported to hospital with minor injuries.
Investigators are asking for the public’s help in locating the suspect. He is described by police as a First Nations man in his 20s, with short stature, and a scruffy beard. He was wearing a toque with dark coloured clothing.
OPP is continuing to investigate the incident and asks anyone with information to contact 1-888-310-1122.
