The Town of Fort Erie has introduced an improvement plan aimed at increasing access to affordable housing for residents.

The Affordable Housing Community Improvement Plan (AHCIP) by-law was passed by Council yesterday and applications for one of the three incentive programs are now open to the public.

The programs being offered will provide funding up to $20,000 to eligible properties and projects to a maximum of $500,000 per project.

“By investing in these incentive programs, we are working to ensure that individuals and families have access to safe, affordable housing options,” Mayor Wayne Redekop said.

The available programs are the Affordable Housing Per Door Grant, the Affordable Housing Study Grant and the Additional Dwelling Unit Grant.

Applications and info on the programs are available on the Fort Erie website.
