Families and friends come together to celebrate Family Day

People across the region took the opportunity for a mid-winter break Monday as the province celebrated Family Day with events for children and adults alike.
Whether strolling along the lakefront or taking in a morning skate, it was a day to take time off and focus on family.
The Earth Rangers Kids Conservation organization held shows throughout the day at the new Exchange Centre in Niagara Falls that is a part of the city’s museum complex.
“What’s really important for us is that kids actually kind of get sparked to care for the environment and kind of learn that they can do small actions in their own home to protect animals.” said Braden Wood, of the Earth Rangers.
In Hamilton, people were enjoying the snow and the sun while touring historic buildings at the Westfield Heritage Village Conservation Area.
“We’ve had some great family groupings out and really enjoyed walking the trails.” said Christina Jager, with the conservation area.
Ultimately, it was a day dedicated to spending time with friends and family, just like in the portraits displayed in the Niagara Falls Museum.
