The Fraser Institute has shared its school report card in which it ranks Ontario public, private and catholic schools based on test results, and eight schools in our region have perfect scores.

  • Hamilton’s Corpus Christi Catholic Elementary School;
  • Oakville’s Alfajrul Bassem Academy and Forest Trail Public School;
  • Applewood Public School and Gracefield Public School in St. Catharines;
  • St. David’s Public School in St. David’s, Ont.;
  • Kate S Durdan Public School in Niagara Falls and;
  • Plymouth Public School in Welland, Ont.

The Fraser Institute says it uses the ranking criteria because it provides “systematic insight into a school’s performance.”

The Report Card is also a way for parents to get insight into how the school is doing.

The think tank says the data suggests schools can improve no matter their location, type or school characteristics.

The report also notes that Burleigh Hill Public School in St. Catharines is one of the fastest improving schools, rising from a score of four-point-five in 2018 to nine-point-nine in 2024.

On the lower end of the scale, because the Fraser Institute lists the best and worst schools.

According to the ranking, a couple of schools in Brantford got a ranking of zero, including Centennial-Grand Woodlands Public School and Princess Elizabeth Public School.
