Court upholds convictions against Dellen Millard, Mark Smich
Multiple murderers Dellen Millard and Mark Smich have had their convictions upheld in Ontario’s top court following back-to-back appeals made by the pair this week.
The Court of Appeal for Ontario dismissed the appeal from Millard and Smich for their conviction in the murder case of 23-year-old Laura Babcock.

Prosecutors argued in the 2017 trial for Babcock’s murder that the accused wanted to kill Babcock in an attempt to resolve a love triangle between her, Millard and his then-girlfriend.
The court dismissed Millard’s argument that he was denied a fair trial because he needed more time to retain a lawyer.
Smich had argued that the jury was not properly instructed on how to separate the evidence between the two men. That argument was also dismissed.

The decision comes a day after the court upheld convictions against Millard and Smich in the 2013 murder of 32-year-old Tim Bosma.
Bosma, a father from Hamilton, was murdered on May 6, 2013.
In the 2016 trial, prosecutors argued that Millard and Smich set out to murder Bosma together and then steal his truck and strip it for parts. Evidence suggested the pair hid the murder weapon and burned Bosma’s body.
