Brantford, Brant County set to co-host Ontario 55+ Summer Games

Brantford and Brant County are gearing up to co-host this year’s Ontario 55 plus Summer Games this week.
Both communities are set to welcome over one thousand athletes, coaches, support staff, officials and spectators for the event.
Athletes from around the province will be participating in eighteen sports competitions, including tennis, swimming, bocce, pickleball and more.
The Opening Ceremony kicks off the Games on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre in Brantford. The Ceremony is free for all and is set to feature a parade of athletes, local entertainment, video presentations, athletes’ oath and the declaration of the Games’ opening with the lighting of the Games cauldron.

Sports competitions themselves will take place throughout Thursday and Friday at 15 venues in Branford and the County of Brant.
Speaking on the Games, the Games Coordinator for Brantford Matt Cuthbert says the City is “thrilled to host this year’s edition of the Ontario 55+ Summer Games, where
age is no barrier to showcasing your athletic prowess, indomitable spirit, and zest for
life”.
This marks the 19th edition of the Ontario 55 plus Summer Games since it was first started in 1986 by the City of Kitchener.
