44% of Hamilton’s hospital workers ‘dread going into work’: survey
According to a new survey, nearly 44 per cent of hospital workers in Hamilton say they “dread going into work,” and a similar amount are on the verge of quitting.
More than 750 hospital workers from Ontario responded to a recent poll conducted on behalf of CUPE’s Ontario Council of Hospital Unions (OCHU/CUPE).
The study asked workers to share how they felt about the government’s plan to improve public health care, and also inquired about how they’re feeling in the workplace.
The numbers reveal that almost half of all hospital workers in Hamilton alone say they are dissatisfied with their job — to the point that they want to quit.
The union says these numbers are a key part of the problem that’s contributing to unprecedented ER closures, delayed treatments, and poorer quality of patient care.
