Four malnourished puppies have been rescued after being found in a box in a Niagara-on-the-Lake park.

The dogs — all badly underweight — are now in stable condition and being cared for by veterinarians and staff at the Humane Society of Greater Niagara.

They were discovered by an area resident in Niagara-on-the-Green Park, a city park not far from the Outlet Collection at Niagara shopping complex and Royal Niagara Golf Club.

The Humane Society stresses that help is available for pet owners finding it difficult to care for their animals.

“If you are struggling to care for your pets, please reach out to us for assistance, including surrender options, advice and information about local support programs,” the Society posted on its Facebook page on Tuesday.

They are asking anyone who recognizes the puppies or has surveillance footage of the Niagara-on-the-Green Park area from earlier this week to contact the shelter at 905-682-0767 or via email at hello@hsgn.ca.

The puppies are estimated to be 10 weeks old. Donations can be made at hsgn.ca/donate.
