17th year for YWCA Hamilton walk to help end gender-based violence

A fundraiser to support survivors of gender-based violence is set to step off Tuesday in downtown Hamilton.

Walk A Mile In Their Shoes‘ departed from city hall at 12:30 p.m.

Since the first event in 2009, more than $1.65 million has been raised for YWCA Hamilton programs and services.

The money helps women, children and gender-diverse people escape violence and rebuild their lives.

Among those participating in the event were Hamilton firefighters and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
