My favourite moment was reaching out to Annette during your 'where are you watching from' segment when we were visiting our daughter & her family in North Bay (last September) our twin grandson's Felix and Christian have always associated CH Morning Live with Gran & Gdad (both when they visit us in Brantford and when we visit them in North Bay - as we have never miss watching) and were thrilled when Annette announced they were starting back to school that morning and watching the news with Gran & Gdad.... Annette I loved how you took the extra time and care to email us back and ask more questions to find out more about why we were there, how much the news meant to the boys and why... and most importantly I love how you made two 7 year olds so very happy and excited especially when they got to share with their classmates that their names were on the news that morning. Terry & Gary Matheson

2026-06-10 15:25:56

Labour Day in September of 2016 was my first ever segment on CHCH Morning Live. I was prepared, with all my food visuals and key messages ready to go. Annette was my host/interviewer. I was nervous, a new registered dietitian in media - and I didn't know what to expect. Annette was an AMAZING host. Made me feel comfortable, confident for my first live on air TV appearance. After that first segment, I started doing monthly segments on Morning Live with Annette. Annette is always super professional, kind, encouraging and is such a great supporter of women. Over the years, Annette has been really encouraging and helped me grow as a nutrition guest expert. I will never forget that and am so grateful we had so many opportunities to work together! - Michelle Jaelin registered dietitian and nutrition guest expert

2026-06-11 18:56:11

Dear Annette: I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate you on your retirement after 40 remarkable years at CHCH and in public broadcasting. Throughout your distinguished career, you have forged countless meaningful relationships with viewers, community-based organizations, and stakeholders across the GTHA and Niagara Region. Your wealth of knowledge and your constant quest to make a difference reflect your true character. Nowhere was this more evident than on the morning show. You possess a rare, effortless ability to connect with local community members and on-air personalities alike, instantly making everyone feel confident, comfortable, and completely relaxed the moment the segment goes live. As the great Canadian author Margaret Laurence once wrote: "Beyond the differences of race, nation, and culture, there is a common human experience, and to touch that common ground is what writing—and living—is all about." Through your journalism, you have spent four decades touching that common ground, calming nerves, and elevating our community. Please know that you have left an indelible mark on the world of public broadcasting. Although this chapter has concluded, I have no doubt that your next chapter will see you continue to inspire and make a difference in the community at large. Wishing you all the best in your well-deserved retirement!

My male Grand Champion Basset Hound, Cecil B. DeMille and I were on the show being interviewed by Annette on several occasions before we showed at the famous Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in New York City. Annette made us feel like we were celebrities. She always enjoyed petting Cecil , drool and all. It was an honor for us to be on Morning live with Annette. Wishing you all the best on a well deserved retirement.

I’ve been a CHCH viewer for as long as I can remember. Right from my childhood and now I’m 45. A staple of my morning and evening routine is watching Morning Live and the evening news. That being said, I’ve watched Annette for many, many years! Her outgoing nature, cheerful disposition and professionalism will be so missed. I can’t think of one particular story that sticks out, but I always loved her reaction in more recent years to “Feel Good Time” and the videos with cats. Annette, you are truly a staple in this community and will certainly be missed on Morning Live but my, oh, my…Enjoy that well deserved retirement!!! Wishing you all the best!!! (With lots of reading, kitty cuddles and trips to Disney!)

Meeting Annette in person through a mutual friend was a DUH moment for me. I momentarily couldn’t figure out why she didn’t recognize me when I see her every morning lol. We had a giggle. She is just as lovely in person as she is on Morning Live. She will be missed but I am sure Simone will do a fantastic job filling her shoes.

I moved to Hamilton in 2009 and the first two faces to welcome me was Bob and Annette on CHCH. I watched faithfully until we moved back west in 2022, so my family submitted my 50th birthday photo to commemorate. Bob retired the same month I moved. Everytime I visit my daughters I watch CHCH. This morning I heard Annette was retiring as well. Nothing last forever. A new chapter for Annette sounds exciting, and I wish you the best. Thank you for being part of my Hamilton life!

2026-06-12 14:31:06

Annette thank you for being a shining star on tv every morning. You are my favourite of the morning hosts (sorry Rick lol) your attitude is infectious and your smile lights up Hamilton. Cheers to 40 years

I love your long hair. I also had shorter hair but let it grow longer with Covid- and kept my original colour as my husband likes it the way it is. I'm about your age -a recently retired RN of 42 years and enjoyed watching you every morning before my shifts. I'm still on that schedule with life in general. (Its still hard to adjust!) Hope you enjoy your spare time as much I do. Keep well.

Your face and smile have been the first thing we see in the morning before we head off for our day, and it's not going to be the same without you! I got into the broadcasting world, BECAUSE of you! 2026-06-15 13:33:58

Annette, Our family would like to wish you a happy retirement as we are long time viewers. My girls, now in their 20’s, have been engaged in the news because you are a solid role model with your sense of honesty, humour and kindness. Your fun banter at the desk and on the couch is so delightful. We particularly enjoy the “ Betty and Judy” stories and this has allowed for a deep connection as we had decided long ago, or the girls did, to rescue cats, we currently we have 6. No judgement please, hahaha. We have also appreciated your devotion to reading and your advocacy to our library system. Enjoy your time in retirement with Daniel as it is so well deserved. Deanna, Ava and Thea from Welland

2026-06-17 14:42:02

I listened to your podcast with Rick and am so happy to hear that you will not be leaving the airwaves completely behind but will be doing podcasts on your very favourite subject...books!!! Take care and know that you will be missed by so many. PS please tell Brian he can't retire for at least a year because I don't think audiences could handle both of your leaving. Carol and Denis

I loved when Annette and Daniel were first married and were interviewed at Disney World. I can’t remember who did the interview but when he announced that they “HAD to get married… because they love each other so much!”. The reactions were priceless! Best wishes for a well-deserved retirement Annette, although I suspect you will keep busy! 💕

2026-06-17 20:20:27

Funny, as I began to write I found myself tearing up. Because Annette had been such a part of my everyday life it’s like losing a friend. I will miss Annette’s welcoming smile every morning. I can’t think of anything that stands out as a distinctive moment or memory. What I will remember is Annette’s championing books and authors. Especially local authors. I have a long list of books Annette’s segments on morning live. Enjoy your well deserved retirement Annette. Sleeping in, eating chips and reading the books you haven’t had time for. New and exciting adventures await you and Daniel.

Good morning Annette. Congratulations on your upcoming retirement. Well deserved. Not sure if you remember me , but I use to be the Community Services Officer at Haldimand OPP detachment back in the day. I remember when Mark Foster and I would do a segment with you , you always said to me “ how now Brown cow” when ever we would meet. I still laugh about that. Going to miss watching you every morning. Best of luck for a long and happy retirement. Thanks for all you have done for the communities that CHCH covers over the years. Take care and thank you.

As fellow 'Norfolk-ers', our paths never crossed in Norfolk County - but instead we met in our professional lives! As a PR consultant, I always appreciated your genuine interest and support of the Canadian brands that I worked with. All of them enjoyed their lifestyle interview segments with Annette! Bon voyage to one of the best in Canadian media and best of luck wherever life takes you next!

2026-06-18 18:30:35

I've met Annette at Royal Botanical Gardens a few times, and she was as friendly and receptive as she is on TV. Another time, we had a submitted vacation photo selected for Morning Live. Something happened and our photo wasn't shown - oh well, we thought. Later that day, we received a note from Annette - apologizing for the error, admiring the location, and assuring us it'd be on TV the next morning! And it was. We were so surprised and touched that dhe would've bothered. On TV and in real life, Annette shows she cares.

2026-06-18 20:11:36

I enjoyed watching Annette do food segments and trying new things on the air. Wish you the on your retirement, Annette!

I remember Annette from one of the first times we saw her. Mic i hand, she was interviewing a Hamilton Police officer. A very respectful reporter, she asked the questions and quietly waited for the response. From that day on, when Annette was on air our family listened. We will miss you Annette and wish you the best retirement with your feet up and a coffee or tea in hand.

2026-06-18 23:17:03

Annette congratulations on your retirement. I have watched you over the years and you are an amazing and caring person. You will be missed I love watching Morning Live each day. I'm sure you have plenty of amazing adventures planned in the coming years.

2026-06-18 23:21:49

I'm the happiest married 64 year old successful business man in Niagara Falls. From 50-61 spent 1 week out of every month in Florida plus some 6 month stints in the winter. I was kind of retired early while in business. A while back a friend Dave Halbert mentioned his relationship with you and I lit up like a Christmas tree. I always had my internet tv box with me in Florida to watch CHCH every morning to monitor traffic for staff. While in Canada I had to drive all over Ontario so CHCH had to be on as soon as I got up. Annette I just can't express to you how happy we were when it was announced. You go girl !!!! Congrats my friend. You are awesome, have a very happy healthy retirement !!!! You'll be missed !!

2026-06-18 23:46:01

I moved to Burlington 5 years ago after my husband died of cancer in 2019. I started watching the morning show and was introduced to Monica at Glamjulz. Annette, you helped me to feel like living down here was home. I have now moved back to Owen Sound but faithfully watch the morning show every day. You will be truly missed and I wish you a wonderful retirement 🙏 ❤️

2026-06-19 06:19:09

Congratulations Annette on your retirement! After 40 years of hard work and dedication to your craft and career, a much deserved retirement is in order. I didn't start watching CHCH Morning Live until 2005 when I moved to Brantford, but have been watching ever since. It has been a real pleasure to watch you over the last 20+ years each and every morning co-anchor the morning show. Your professionalism, humour, and personality shine through in every show. I truly appreciate that the station allows the morning team to be themselves while still being professional. Your presence brings calmness, maturity and wisdom, yet curiosity and fun-lovingness to the show. I don't know you but you come across as a nice human being, who is kind, intelligent, well educated, thoughtful, curious, well read, and one who sincerely cares about animals, especially cats. You will be greatly missed by many, myself included. I am happy for you to be retiring and yet sad to see you go. I'm sure many share this sentiment. (Simone has big shoes to fill). I wish you much happiness and success in your future endeavors in your retirement. I envision you and your husband sailing off into the sunset to find new and far off lands to explore. I'm sure travelling will be one of your favourite hobbies. Enjoy!

2026-06-19 10:17:59

Annette, We really enjoyed your segments with special guests, especially the ones where you reviewed book reads for the summer. There were always great suggestions. We looked forward to starting our day with CHCH morning live and seeing you behind the desk - you were always cheerful and a great way to start our day! We will miss your smile, your great sense of humor and connection with the viewers. Congratulations on your retirement...well deserved. We are sure you will enjoy all your travel plans. Congratulations Annette on your retirement well earned!!! CHCH has been my morning ritual news station for a few decades now. I was fortunate enough to quickly meet you as one of the stomptastic line dancers showcased earlier this year. Wishing you many restful mornings! Joanne Bouchard

Congratulations Annette on your Retirement 😊 My mornings have always started with my coffee, the Spectator Sudoku, and watching Morning Live. I was fortunate to be part of your program August, 2024. You interviewed me to talk about The Bright Run and our Team Jody, who is my daughter that passed away of Breast Cancer and from that I got a grief support group registered in Hamilton for Parents who had lost a child, called The Compassionate Friends of Hamilton and Area. You were so warm and encouraging which helped me relax doing the interview that my family said I did great!! Thank You again for the opportunity to be a part of your program. Good Luck and enjoy the many adventures ahead in your travels. Emily MacKenzie

I am going to miss Annette so much. She is however going to relate our dilemma of watching CHCH and Tim Bolen! When to switch, do I switch? Love them both. I do love all the hosts on CHCH, they get along so well, but I cant change the channel to watch Annette!!! I do wish her well on her retirement.

Our three sons (who are now adults!) have grown up with your voice in the background of our busy mornings. We always stop for the “feel good time” and “where are you watching” segments and we were thrilled when you shared our puppy Ruby’s enthusiastic reaction to an adoptable dog on the spca segment. We wish you the best in your retirement as you read more, travel more and enjoy some well deserved sleep-ins. Thanks for being a part of our lives. We will miss you.

As a long time CHCH viewer,I want to say that you are going to love retirement! Enjoy. Thrilled about Annette's Book Club, great idea. I belong to two book clubs and occasionally we do a movie night and it is always well attended. We also don't all read the same books, that works and has kept us going for years and years!

When I met you at the YWCA Women of Distinction nominee reception in January 2019, I never imagined how much one connection would shape my journey. That encounter inspired me to reach out to you about running cooking segments to support mental wellness. Always supportive and encouraging, you opened doors to meaningful relationships, inspiring stories, and heartfelt connections with the CHCH Morning Live viewers that I will always cherish. And years later, when the roles were reversed and you joined me as a guest on my cooking show, it was such a joy to see another side of you — just as warm, thoughtful, and joyful. Annette, I can’t thank you enough for your kindness, openness, professionalism, and the steady cheerfulness you have brought to our mornings. You have inspired countless women, and your impact will continue to be felt. Next Monday will feel very different, a little heavier yet, but I am so happy for you and excited for Simone. May retirement bring slower mornings, joyful adventures, deep rest, and all the goodness you have so generously given to others returned to you tenfold. You will be greatly missed. God bless.💛 PS... Congratulations on your new podcast! What a great idea!

I hope that I am not too late in sending this! I don't have ONE single favourite memory of Annette, because there are SOOOO many! At 35 years old, I have pretty well started every day watching her on CHCH. Rather than watching cartoons as a kid before school, I was watching the news. Every morning for as far back as I can recall, Annette has been in the background. She has shared the good news, the bad news and does it so wonderfully! She is such a positive person and was part of the reason that I wanted to work in media, and while I am not in the news like I had planned, I did get the diploma and part of that was because of her! She's always so cheery, no matter what is going on and professional. I adore her and will miss her on the news immensely. I truly hope that we still see you around Annette! Enjoy your retirement, it is truly well deserved and now you can catch up on some sleep! Wishing you and Daniel all the best! We'll miss you!

I remember chasing you out of crime scenes while you were out hunting up your stories. You were tenacious. Wishing you all the best in your next chapter.

My mornings will never be the same after Annette retires. I’ve been watching daily for at least 20 years and her presence will definitely be missed here. Her and I are actually distant cousins on her mother’s side and when I was a teenager we lived across the road from her family farm near Walsingham for a short time and I babysat her and her sister a couple of times. Also I remember her Aunt Helen, who was in my Grade 9 home room at Delhi High School. I wish Annette all the best in her retirement!
