Two people on a motorcycle escaped serious injury after colliding with an SUV in St. Catharines on Wednesday afternoon.

Niagara police say the incident happened when the motorcycle entered the intersection at Queenston Street and Westchester Avenue without the right-of-way.

Both the 40-year-old driver of the motorcycle and a passenger under the age of 16 were taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The motorcycle driver has been charged with a number of offences.

The intersection was closed for about four hours.
