Fire at former Beamsville high school ‘suspicious’: Niagara police

Lincoln Fire Rescue was called to battle a blaze at a former high school Wednesday night in Beamsville that is believed to be suspicious.

The fire broke out around 6 p.m. at the now-closed Beamsville District Secondary School at 4317 Central Ave.

Firefighters found a working fire in a small barn attached to the greenhouses behind the school.

Twenty-four firefighters brought it under control in just over an hour.

No one was inside and there were no injuries.

The fire has been “deemed suspicious” say Niagara police and is being investigated by their forensics unit, Lincoln Fire Rescue and the Office of the Fire Marshal.

Damage is estimated at $50,000.
