Two arrested, 3D-printed guns seized in Hamilton drug trafficking investigation

A drug trafficking investigation in east Hamilton has led to two arrests and the seizure of drugs and 3D-printed firearms.

Hamilton police say the investigation began earlier this year when officers received information regarding suspected drug trafficking at a residence on Kenilworth Avenue North.

On Aug. 27, authorities executed a search warrant at the residence and arrested two people without incident.

As a result of the search, police seized approximately 10 grams of fentanyl and methamphetamine, hydromorphone pills and psilocybin mushrooms.

Also recovered during the search were two Uzi-style firearms including one that was 3D printed, a 3D-printed silencer and magazine containing .22 calibre ammunition. Two digital scales, cellular devices, Canadian currency and brass knuckles containing a spring-loaded knife were also found.

Brandon Mitchell, 41, and 43-year-old Joelene Keogh, both of Hamilton, have been charged with the following:

• Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
• Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Psilocybin
• Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Hydromorphone
• Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl
• Possession of Proceeds of Crime Under $5,000
• Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm (two counts)
• Possession of a Loaded Firearm
• Possession of a Prohibited Weapon/Device (three counts)

Authorities say Mitchell faces two additional counts of failing to Comply with Probation and two counts of Possession Contrary to an Order.
