RCMP arrest two Air Canada employees in drug trafficking investigation

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police say that two Air Canada employees have been arrested in connection with alleged drug trafficking out of Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport.

According to the investigation, the two employees held various positions related to ground operations at Air Canada.

The Mounties say the two suspects are believed to be part of a conspiracy to move luggage into the airport’s secure areas to help import cocaine and export cannabis.

The investigation began in May after 62.5 kilograms of cocaine was intercepted in backpacks on a flight from Punta Cana, in the Dominican Republic.

In the investigation, an additional 56 kilograms of cannabis were seized.

The investigation is ongoing.
