Everything you need to know about the County of Brant’s 2026 municipal election

Residents of the County of Brant will go to the polls to cast their votes for the city’s next mayor and other municipal officials on Oct. 26, 2026.

David Bailey, the current mayor of the County of Brant, will not be running for re-election.

The deadline to submit or withdraw nominations was Aug. 21 at 2 p.m.

Candidates are listed alphabetically by last name alongside a brief bio. This page will be updated regularly as the race develops, and individual ward candidate lists will follow the same format.

The County of Brant’s mayoral race

• Stuart Braid comes to the race as a former supervisor with the Canadian Mental Health Association. He has also owned and operated a technology consulting company and a business dealing with sports equipment and memorabilia. Braid’s platform focuses on fiscal responsibility, protection of rivers and greenspaces, future proofing the county and more.
• Christine Garneau Bisaillon brings with her a background in land management, property maintenance and agricultural operations. Her platform focuses on restoring public trust, achieving fiscal stability by limiting discretionary spending and managing sustainable growth to protect the county’s rural and agricultural roots
• Kent Hollett
• Graham Horner is a farmer and farm equipment mechanic from St. George.
• Jennifer Kyle has been the Ward 1 councillor since 2022. Her platform focuses on thoughtful growth, financial responsibility, rural prosperity, transparent government and more.
• David Swanson ran for mayor in 2022. This time around Swanson is focusing on basic income and using tax credits more effectively.
