Everything you need to know about Brantford’s 2026 municipal election

Brantford residents will go to the polls to cast their votes for the city’s next mayor and other municipal officials on Oct. 26, 2026.

More information on voting in Brantford and key dates can be found on the city’s website.

Brantford Mayor Kevin Davis was elected in 2018 but will not be seeking re-election this year.

The deadline to submit or withdraw nominations was Aug. 21 at 2 p.m.

Candidates are listed alphabetically by last name alongside a brief bio. This page will be updated regularly as the race develops, and individual ward candidate lists will follow the same format.

Brantford’s mayoral race

• Leslie Bory, 56, was convicted in January 2025 of advocating genocide, willful promotion of hatred and two counts of uttering threats. The Ontario Court of Appeals is currently reviewing his 2025 sentence.
• Richard Carpenter has represented Ward 4 for more than 30 years after being elected in 1994. The longtime city councillor’s platform focuses on safer neighbourhoods, protecting green space, healthcare access, community trust and more.
• Dan McCreary has been the Ward 3 councillor since 2003. He has been the city’s delegate to the Chamber of Commerce Brantford Brant since he was elected. His platform focuses on community safety, financial responsibility and healthcare.
• Richard Michael Misura is now retired but was a longtime real estate agent in the Brantford area.
• Mandy Samwell became the Ward 5 councillor in 2022 and has resided in the area for close to 30 years. Samwell’s platform focuses on affordability, safe communities, growth with purpose and more.
• Rose Sicoli first became a Ward 1 councillor in 2021 when a vacancy opened up, and was re-elected in 2022 to a four-year term. She was named Deputy Mayor for External Relations in 2025. Sicoli’s platform focuses on public safety, healthcare, affordability and more.
• Ricky Willdy, a local pro wrestler, has thrown his hat in the ring for mayor of Brantford.
