After Prime Minister Mark Carney suspended trade talks with the U.S., small businesses in Ontario are bracing for the impacts of 50 per-cent tariffs. The Canadian Federation of Independent Business says revenue may be slashed in half, with some businesses wondering if they can continue operating. The impact is felt further when the product is perishable, as in the flower growing industry. One expert told us the only viable option is to ship to the States because some products can’t go to other countries. This leaves businesses our region in a state of limbo, and wondering what will happen next.
