Pilot involved in helicopter crash in New York identified

First Published:

A pilot who was killed in a helicopter crash in New York has been identified.

Tim McCormack was flying the helicopter when it crash-landed on the roof of a skyscraper in midtown Manhattan yesterday.

The crash sparked a fire and ended up killing McCormack- who was the only person on board at the time.

Officials are still unsure how the aircraft ended up flying over midtown, but say poor weather conditions at the time may have disoriented the pilot.

The skyscraper apparently shook from the impact and many New Yorkers were feeling a level of PTSD from 9/11when they heard of the crash.

Tthe mayor of New York says there is no indication that this was an act of terror, and there is no ongoing threat to New York City at this time.
