Halton police are asking for public help identifying what looked like a girl walking in the area of Guelph Line and 1 Side Road in Burlington Thursday.

Officers say they received reports of a young female, believed to be around 10-years-old, seen going on foot on the road, just east of Guelph Line at around noon.

Investigators say they have searched the area, K9 and drone resources working along with uniformed officers, but have not yet identified the girl.

Police say they have not received a missing person or distress call, but would like to identify the girl to ensure her safety.

They describe her as a four-foot-tall girl with a thin build, dark brown hair that was pulled into a ponytail, and was wearing an oversized dark t-shirt.

Officers say she may have been travelling or hiking on the Bruce Trail in the area, and would ask anyone who was on the trail between Guelph Line and Walkers Line between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Thursday to contact the police at 905-825-4747 ext. 2316.
