Person struck by train near Confederation GO in Hamilton

Emergency crews are responding after a person was struck by a train on the Lakeshore West line east of Confederation GO in Hamilton.

The 11:10 a.m. train that departs from Confederation GO and is supposed to arrive at Union Station at 12:45 p.m. will need to hold until further notice.

As a result of this incident, Woodward Avenue is closed from Barton Street East and Rennie Street.

Metrolinx says trains cannot move through the area until a full investigation is completed.

The incident is under investigation by Hamilton police and replacement bus service is operating while service is restored.
