Brantford police charge wanted man in recent stabbing

Brantford police have charged a man who was wanted for a recent stabbing last weekend.

On Wednesday, Dameon Hunter, 42, was located at a Brant Avenue location where he was arrested and charged by officers.

Last Sunday at around 2:40 p.m., officers were dispatched to attend a lodging home at Dalhousie Street near Brock Street after receiving a report of an injured man who had been assaulted.

Investigators have determined that a verbal dispute between the victim and the suspect happened before the victim was stabbed. The suspect, Hunter, fled prior to police arrival.

Officers attended and located the victim who was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A warrant was issued for the arrest of Hunter, who faces charges of aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and failure to comply with probation.
