Hamilton support worker arrested for financial abuse of senior

Hamilton police have arrested a support worker following a financial exploitation investigation involving a vulnerable senior.

Investigators say the woman was employed as a support worker providing care to a 76-year-old victim.

Over a two-year-period, it’s alleged that the woman unlawfully accessed the victim’s bank account and withdrew funds without authorization. This resulted in a financial loss of $6,600.

On June 25, officers arrested 52-year-old Carla Grandin of Hamilton. She is being charged with the following offences:

  • Fraud Over $5,000
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Credit Card
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
