Niagara police arrest 19-year-old man in human trafficking investigation

Police have arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with an ongoing human trafficking investigation in the Niagara Region.

The investigation into the trafficking of a woman began in May. The 19-year-old man is the third male suspect identified by authorities in the case.

On June 23, officers arrested Darren Williams, of no fixed abode, in Welland.

As a result, Williams has been charged with the following offences:

  • Trafficking in Persons
  • Procuring
  • Utter Threats
  • Forced Marriage
  • Procuring Feigned Marriage

Detectives believe there may be other victims. They are asking anyone who believes they may be a victim or know of anyone who may have had an interaction with Williams to contact them at 905-688-4111, option 3, ext. 1029548.
