Hamilton police are asking for the public’s help in locating two male suspects in connection with an armed home invasion in Ancaster.

On Tuesday at around 12:20 a.m., officers responded to a home on Moorland Crescent following a report of a break-and-enter.

Upon arrival, officers learned that two suspects had smashed the glass in the front door of the home. Before the suspects could gain entry, they were confronted by the homeowner.

Investigators say a brief altercation took place outside the house between the homeowner and the two suspects.

Detectives say the suspects then fled the area in a small, black SUV. The homeowner sustained minor injuries during the confrontation.

Officers believe the home may have been specifically targeted.

Police describe the first suspect as a white male who was last seen wearing a hooded sweater, light-coloured sweatpants, black shoes with white accents and was wearing a black medical-style mask.

Detectives say he was in possession of a firearm, which still remains outstanding.

Investigators say the second suspect was a white male who was last spotted wearing a black-hooded sweater, light-coloured sweatpants, light-coloured shoes with reflective accents, light-coloured gloves and was possibly wearing a light-coloured face mask.

Officers are asking anyone who may have information about this incident or who may have captured video surveillance footage of the suspects or suspect vehicle in the area, to contact Division 30 Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) by email at SM-CID30@hamiltonpolice.ca.
