Mississauga council considers renaming park after Toronto police officer

Mississauga Mayor Carolyn Parris has confirmed to CHCH News that she will be putting forward a motion to rename one of the city’s parks after Const. Marc Pinizzotto, the Toronto police officer killed last week in a gunfire exchange.

The mayor says she has been in touch with Pinizzotto’s mother, who was “extremely pleased with the idea of renaming Indian Line Park in his honour.”

The veteran Toronto police officer died in the line of duty while conducting a high-risk search warrant in the city’s northwest end on June 11.
