Man charged following police-involved shooting in Burlington

Halton police say a 22-year-old man involved in a police shooting last weekend is now facing charges.

Shortly after midnight, officers were conducting a traffic stop in the parking lot of the Crestwood Motel on Plains Road East.

The driver of the vehicle being pulled over attempted to flee the scene, driving in the direction of officers and hitting a police vehicle.

One of the officers on scene shot at and hit the driver multiple times.

He was transported to a Hamilton hospital before being released later that same day.

As a result of the investigation, authorities have charged 22-year-old Sebastian Barbe with the following:

  • Attempt Murder
  • Dangerous Operations of a Motor Vehicle
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance – Fentanyl

Barbe is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.
