Hamilton police say they are searching for two men involved in a distraction theft after a 76-year-old man had his necklace stolen.

Officers say the theft happened on Thursday at approximately 2:50 p.m. on Upper Horning Road on the West Mountain.

A 76-year-old man was approached by two men driving a black Audi. The two men told the man they had a gift for him from their mother and encouraged him to lean closer.

They then placed a gold necklace around his neck and a gold ring on his finger.

Shortly after leaving the area, the man realized that the gold necklace and ring were fake – and that his own necklace had been stolen.

Officers describe the stolen necklace as a gold chain with a gold cross pendant.

Investigators say no license plate was obtained.

The two men are described as having tanned complexions and wearing baseball hats.

Authorities believe there may be more victims in Hamilton.
