Hamilton police continue search for man, 62, missing for nearly one week

Hamilton police are continuing to investigate the disappearance of 62-year-old John Edwards, who was last seen Wednesday morning in Dundas.
Officers have been reviewing all surveillance footage they have gathered over the last few days and confirmed the man was last seen at the McDonalds at 10 Cootes Dr., just before 10 a.m.
Investigators say Edwards was seen on video walking westbound on Baldwin Street.
The 62-year-old man left his home at St. Joseph’s Villa at around 9:15 a.m. That’s about a 15 minute walk away from where he was last seen at the McDonalds.
Detectives describe Edwards as a five-foot-11 tall white man, weighing over 200 lbs, with shoulder-length brown hair and brown eyes.
He may be wearing baggy shorts, a striped blue T-short, white socks, running shoes, and possibly a baseball cap.
Police have been investigating Edwards’ disappearance since last week, with a command centre set up in the Metro parking lot near Governors Road and Ogilvie Street.
They say Edwards is known to enjoy walks through local trails and parks in Dundas, but it is unusual for him to not return home.
He is also known to walk with a slight shuffle, and often carries a small, light-coloured ball in his hand.
Officers say he did not have a phone or a vehicle.
Edwards’ loved ones told CHCH News that they are hopeful that he will be found, but are getting more worried as the days go on.
People in the area are asked to check around their property, in garages and sheds, and to check surveillance camera footage.
Anyone with information is asked to call Hamilton Police Service Missing Person Unit 905-540-8549 or Division 30 Patrol Staff Sergeant at 905-546-3886.
